CREATE! Conway YARN ZOO
April 27 - June 1
I'm happy to report that we have been approved for another yarn bomb public art project for downtown Conway!
The Yarn Zoo public art installation will consist of colorful handcrafted crochet and knit coverings for railings, planters, benches, Crepe Myrtles, bicycle stands and trash receptacles on the sidewalks of downtown Conway, SC. Artists are invited to create and attached their own collection of crochet or handcrafted butterflies, birds, animals, flowers or critters to the coverings. We are striving to use up-cycled yarn and we have yarn available here at the CREATE! office for your use as well. Also, if you need to purchase yarn, please let me know and I can have CREATE! Conway reimburse you. As far as colors...think Spring!
If you want to participate, just reply to this email and I will send you photos of approved locations. If you know a group or an individual who would like to get involved, please forward this email to them! You can create something as simple as one yarn bomb for a Crepe Myrtle tree or one bench or you can go full on with an entire storefront. Some businesses have just a bench outside of their store, some have planters, a tree and a bench. Please read the full press release to find out more. We will re-purpose our yarn bombs from the Dancing With Wool project and this one into blankets to have ready for Christmas 2013. I'm looking forward to working with all of you on this fun and worthwhile project and hope to hear from each of you soon! All My Best, Barbara Director CREATE! Conway 843-248-4527 Send us an email! |
