Flux Projects
Flux Night 2013 Call for Proposals
Deadline for Submission: Friday, March 22, 2013
Notification: May 1, 2013
Applications accepted through CaFÉ.
Overview:
Flux Projects produces exceptional and surprising temporary public art to galvanize Atlanta’s cultural curiosity. The highlight of our year is FluxNight, a one-night event modeled on other international celebrations such as Paris’s Nuit Blanche. Flux Night fills the streets and empty spaces of the Castleberry Hill Arts District with visual art projects, performances, dance, music, sound and light installations, and other forms of multimedia works and public interactions. The event will return to Castleberry on Saturday, October 5, from 7:00 p.m. until midnight.
Flux Night 2013 is being curated by Helena Reckitt. Her theme for the evening is Free Association. Random encounters, chance discoveries, and sensory overload are the hallmarks of Flux Night, now in its fourth year. The 2013 edition, Free Association, builds on this spirit of unexpected juxtapositions and patterns of call-and-response. Free Association explores the ways in which images, information and identities proliferate and mutate, online and off. It points to the strong history of digital art and collective activity within the city. It also looks beyond the visual, to senses and experiences that catch us unaware.
Flux Night 2013 will have two categories of projects: curated projects selected directly by Reckitt and proposed projects selected from this call by a committee that will include Reckitt along with Flux Projects staff and board.
To Submit:
Submissions are being accepted through CaFÉ. Applicants must abide by the word limits to the application questions. Applications that do not observe these will not be reviewed for consideration. Apply here.
