The Museum Park recently installed the latest Park Pictures billboards along the park trails with works from artist Lydia McCarthy.

Lydia Anne McCarthy, Renskalle med böcker, 2012, Digital print on vinyl
“McCarthy, a graduate of the UNC–Chapel Hill MFA program, spent the past year living and working in Sweden. Her desire to return to Sweden, to the people, culture, and landscape that she fell in love with, informs the billboards she created. The work is an homage to her time spent exploring the landscape, a manifestation of her desire to return, and a recognition of the impossibility of longing.” (Read more)
You, too, have the opportunity to see your work on these billboards. Beginning in the spring we will open this blog for submissions for the fall Park Pictures competition. College artists will be invited to make connections to artist Brian Ulrich’s work which be on display in the North Carolina gallery in fall 2013. There are three billboards in the Park and each artist selected will receive a $500 cash prize. Works are juried by the curatorial department.
