Position Available at Coastal


Assistant Director Position Description
The Assistant Director of The Jackson Family Center for Ethics and Values is a one year, temporary, staff position for a Coastal Carolina University graduate, preferably a recent graduate who has a major and/or minor in the Humanities and/or has been a Jackson Scholar.  Coursework in Philosophy and/or Religious Studies is also preferred.  The dates for this position are August 16, 2013 – August 15, 2014.  The Assistant Director has an option to reapply for the position after the first term of employment, for a maximum of two years in the position.
The Assistant Director’s duties are as follows:
1.     Perform all administrative duties necessary to support the Center Director in the smooth, efficient running of the Ethics Center, including, but not limited to making arrangements for the Center’s programs, planning and coordinating publicity for the Center’s programs, keeping the Center budget updated, preparing and processing paperwork related to budget, facilities, and equipment requests, setting up receptions and equipment for the Center’s programs, and managing Center supplies.
2.     Design and update the Center’s web site, including online video of Center programs.
3.     Collaborate with the Jackson Fellow in facilitating programs and projects.
4.     Maintain the records of The Jackson Center.
5.     Oversee the application process for Jackson Scholars; mentor and update the Jackson Scholars.
6.     Participate on the Instruction Team for HFA 301, 302, 303, 304 and the After School Ethics Academy and facilitate planning and presentation of these courses as needed.
7.     Work with Kimbel Library to make The Jackson Center’s resources available to the Coastal Carolina community and to the public.
8.     Maintain relations between the Jackson Center Board of Directors and the Jackson Center and report to them in regards to The Jackson Resource Center and Library.
9.     Speak on behalf of the Center at meetings, presentations, and public functions.
Requirements:
·     Must have graduated with a degree from Coastal Carolina University by August 2013.  A cumulative GPA of 3.0, a major and/or minor within the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, and coursework in Philosophy and/or Religious Studies are strongly preferred.
